Our client is a leading player in the development and production of medicines. They have approximately 2000 employees worldwide working for the company.

In the Netherlands, the organization has a production location in the region of The Hague - Leiden, where work is done 24/7. The global headquarters is also located in this region.

The position

In this position you are responsible for the two Dutch locations and you manage the Dutch HR team. In addition, from your HR role you are globally responsible for some functional areas and work in a matrix structure.

You work closely with the Global HR Director and the other Country HR Directors.

  • You lead the Dutch HR team, define and follow your own processes and policies in accordance with global and local regulations;
  • You define and manage the HR functional country budget (salaries, compensations and  benefits);
  • Leading personnel, organizational and development management processes: talent acquisition, career path and performance management, succession planning and terminations;
  • You lead change management processes and promote a winning company culture;
  • You work closely with labor unions and lead contract negotiations on the collective labor agreement (CLA);
  • You represent the company towards the Works Council;
  • You have knowledge of, among other things, the 30% ruling, insurance and pensions for international employees working in the Netherlands;
  • Leading efficiency, lean and cost-out projects in the position;
  • Lead the engagement survey, followed by actions to be defined and implemented to track progress;
  • Coaching and supporting the Country Leadership Team.

In this role you report directly to the Global HR Director.

The department
The HR department in the Netherlands has a Country HR Director (this vacancy), an HR Business Partner responsible for the production location, and supporting HR professionals.

Worldwide there is cooperation with the other Country HR Directors and of course the Global HR Director.

Candidate profile

  • Master or comparable level through work experience, in Human Resources, Business Economics, Law or similar;
  • 7-10 years experience in a similar role, within an international matrix organization. Work experience in pharmacy is an advantage;
  • 3-5 years of experience in negotiating collective labor agreements;
  • Experience in working with Works Councils;
  • Conceptually and analytically strong, and also practical in approach and implementation;
  • You have a global mindset and easily switch between different countries and different levels within the organization;
  • You are a team player in an international organization;
  • You are a quick and thorough decision-maker, with a cost-conscious approach;
  • Fluent Dutch and English (spoken and written)

The offer

  • At the start, the salary is a maximum of € 8,000 gross per month on a full-time basis;
  • Holiday allowance of 8%;
  • A fixed 13th month of 10%;
  • A variable bonus scheme up to 15%;
  • The contract initially offered is for one year, with the intention of converting this into an indefinite contract.
