The position
The BU Controller will have overall responsibility for the finance & IT function of the BU. S/he manages a team of approximately 15 people (of which 2 in IT), most are based in Thailand and the Netherlands and some in the United States. S/he reports to the Managing Director of the BU and functionally to the CFO of the segment. You will be part of the BU Management Team.
The BU Controller position is based in the Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Member of the Local Management with full P&L responsibility for the business unit.
- Overall responsibility for the finance & IT function of the BU, managing a team with multiple nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
- Prepare and improve monthly and ad hoc management reports and provide quality business analysis to support management of the BU to improve results in terms of profitability, cost and working capital.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting to headquarters in Europe. Lead the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Maintain and enhance the administrative organisation and internal control system.
- Participation and leadership in ERP and IT projects.
- Liaise with external auditors & financial advisors, tax authorities, banks etc.
- Liaise with group finance functions such as group control, and tax, treasury & compliance.
Candidate profile
This position is open for Dutch and other EU or North-American candidates, meeting the following requirements:
- The candidate should be located or willing to relocate to the Chiang Mai area and be part of a local management team.
- Finance related university degree.
- International work experience ideally gained in the South East Asian area.
- At least 8-10 years of finance & controlling experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment, preferably in a publicly listed company.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and ood understanding of international transfer pricing and tax related matters is important.
- Track record in working capital management such as inventory control and credit management.
- Experience in MIS development and participating in and enabling change processes, affinity with IT, experience in implementation, operation and enhancement of ERP software and a strong PC literate (Excel).
- Pro-active personality and a self starter.
- Highly developed communication skills and able to apply those skills to achieve business results.
- Committed to getting results in a demanding international environment.
- Flexible and able to handle deadlines.
- Well developed intercultural competences and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral command of the English (business) language is a must. Knowledge of the Thai language and/or fluency in the Dutch or French language is a strong pre.
