The organisation

Nature's Pride BV is one of the largest importers of exotic fruit and vegetables in Europe. The company is mainly known as the organisation that made the avocado popular in Europe. Nature's Pride is the pioneer behind the ripening process of exotic fruit especially avocados and mangoes - recognisable in the supermarket by the purple 'EatMe' brand stickers.

Nature's Pride wants to contribute to a healthy, sustainable and social world. Nature’s Pride is dedicated to the living and working conditions of growers, to lowering water use and to making the supply chain more sustainable.

Nature's Pride was founded in 2001 and the Norwegian BAMA Gruppen was the largest customer from the start and since 2016 BAMA is the major shareholder. Nature's Pride now has around 450 permanent employees and works with more than 400 growers in 53 countries, from whom we source around 215 exotic fruits and vegetables. They sell to more than 360 customers in around 27 countries in Europe. The annual turnover amounts to € 450 million for the entire company. Customers are retailers, wholesale exporters and food services in Europe. The success is recognisable in the positive vibe within the company, with engaged employees who live Nature's Pride's core values: passion, pioneer, together and responsible.

Nature’s Pride is being led by an executive team, consisting of the CEO, COO, Sales Director, Sourcing Director, CPO and a CFO (vacant). The CEO and the CFO are also members of the statutory Management Board of Nature’s Management.

The position

Chief Financial Officer Nature’s Pride Are you an all-round financial leader with a clear vision on finance, a business partner with an entrepreneurial mindset and a broad business view? Do you have affinity with people, values and sustainability? Do you now work in the dynamic area of international food Retail or distribution, with complex supply chains (both the sourcing and sales sides)? Are you curious about the stories behind the figures, the people and the business processes? And can you develop and implement an integrated business strategy that focuses on enhancing efficiency through further automation of essential business functions such as integrated pricing, invoicing, and operational planning? Then read on because Nature's Pride is looking for such a CFO.

Tasks & responsibilities

As CFO of Nature’s Pride, you play a crucial role in stabilising the financial business performance and realising the expansion of international business and cooperation within the chain. You are a broad financial professional who acts as a business partner for the CEO, the executive team and other managers and BAMA Gruppen.

Together with the other Directors, you will further develop a multi-year strategy that contributes to the stability, profitable growth and strategic development of Nature's Pride. You report hierarchically to the CEO of Nature's Pride, Adriëlle Dankier and functionally to the CFO of BAMA Gruppen.

You provide leadership (hierarchical and operational) to the IT, Finance and Business Controlling departments. And you maintain and strengthen the relationship with stakeholders such as the CFO of BAMA, banks and auditors and represent the interests of Nature's Pride.

It is important in this role that you start by understanding the relationships and business processes within Nature's Pride. Where necessary you redesign business processes, and you develop an integrated vision of the complex business of Nature's Pride.

Candidate profile

You have a master's degree in Finance & Controlling or, for example, Technical Business Administration. And you now have at least 15 years of experience in finance. You think business and strategy, have participated in Boards, led teams and effectively operated in dynamic multi stakeholder (international) environments. At the same you are not a ‘corporate’ type, you are hands on, appreciate collaborating closely together with your colleagues, and make things happen. You have set up state-of-the-art digital business processes. Furthermore: market analysis, financial reporting, Power BI and ERP implementation hold no secrets for you. You understand how to ensure the right balance between top-line growth and bottom-line cost control.

Finance is your core expertise, but you have developed a broader business view. You are always looking for the story behind the figures and like to understand the context of your organisation, as well as the operational matters and the people who keep everything running. In this mix you chose the right priorities and deliver.

Your career path will be broader than only finance - and certainly broader than corporate. Maybe you started your career in (strategy) consulting of Big4, and/or have also worked in a commercial/general management role in your career until now. You now have a track record as a Finance Director or CFO, in a dynamic commercial (distribution, food, FCMG or retail), international environment or other companies that have comparable supply chains and business processes.

You are analytical, work structured and systematic. And you have a well-developed business sense. Also, you love to improve processes, teams, reports and strategies. You like to tackle complex issues in stunningly simple and effective ways. You switch between strategic and hands-on level smoothly.

You have a pragmatic, energetic and proactive personality. You are balanced calm and fact based, and bat the same time can easily relate to colleagues with different characters or temperaments who can be passionate or emotional. You are balanced, stable person with a good sense of humour. You are curious about others and can relate well to colleagues. You coach the best of your employees and represent the interests of your organisation with stakeholders and (financial/IT) partners smoothly and sensitively. So, you are open and have good communication skills. Based on a thorough analysis, you know how to set things in motion, and you ensure structured follow-up. You are sensitive to the needs of the organisation and its stakeholders and build lasting relationships.
