The organisation

Our client was founded in 2005 to become a leading provider of high end ocean transportation services for clients seeking, reliable and safe transportation of their floating and non-floating cargoes. Our client is a Rotterdam based company, currently quoted on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

The company has serious ambitions to expand. This could involve buying other vessels, mergers or acquisition of other companies in the offshore services industry. To accomplish these ambitions our client is also looking for a

that will join a very experienced and professional team.

The position

An overview of the main responsibilities of the Director of Finance are:

• Managing the processes with accountants insurance companies and stock exchange;
• Establishing and maintaining relations with bank, investment bankers and analysts; 
• Establishing and maintaining relations with new and existing investors; 
• Preparing and analyzing (external) financial reports like the annual accounts and the quarterly reports; 
• Taking care of the proper processing of the Treasury and Tax activities in the administration of the organisation in close cooperation with Treasury and tax specialists; 
• Financial advisory for strategic growth opportunities for the company, such as acquisitions; 
• Maintaining internal accounting principles as documented in the Accounting Manual; 
• Analyzing and assessing the consequences of new accounting principles for the total organisation and, when necessary implement these in the financial reporting; 
• Managing the administration of the holding.

The role of the Director of Finance is a role that includes much more than the ‘standard’ finance & accounting responsibilities due to activities on the investors’ site.

The capital structure of the company will remain to be the responsibility of the management board but will require strong involvement of the Director of Finance. The Director of Finance will report to the Management and has support in accounting & reporting. The position will requires approximately twenty percent international travelling.

The profile

Candidates for this position should have a Dutch background, a minimum of 8 to 10 years experience in one of the big four accountancy firms and/or in finance management including an accounting and reporting position in a professional company. Potential candidates have a strong track record and show capabilities to maintain and grow the financial discipline as a hands-on Director of Finance. They have a strong educational background with an academic degree and possibly completed with a RA or RC degree. They have a thorough understanding and experience with IFRS reporting.

Candidates have excellent communication skills, and are able to build and maintain effective working relationships within the company and with accountants, insurance companies and analysts on the investors’ site.

He or she will become familiar with all aspects of a publicly quoted company including, for example, answering analyst questions and meeting them during conferences. Besides that the candidate needs to establish relations with new shipping investors and build up good knowledge of capital markets.
