The position

You are responsible for the advancement of MSF’s social mission by establishing the financial, ICT and business operations strategy for OCA (Operating Center Amsterdam). You ensure optimal resource management and continuous improvement while playing a vital role in reshaping the organization.

Tasks & responsibilities

As the Director of Finance & Business Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial and operational landscape of MSF OCA. This is a new role, designed to further optimize coherence between functions within MSF OCA.

You will be responsible for devising and executing strategies that support our social mission and organizational goals, maximising availability of resources while ensuring smooth business operations as well as robust financial management. You will oversee the management of budgets, forecasts, and liquidity, ensuring that our financial practices comply with MSF’s international agreements and applicable accounting standards, while supporting continuous improvements in the various functions of business operations.

The leads of the finance, IT, project management office and planning and reporting function fall under your responsibility, as well as a small number of business operations professionals. You report directly to the General Director MSF Netherlands and represent your teams in the management team.

You will work closely with other OC’s, contributing to the development of movementwide policies. Information exchange, coherence and mutual accountability is key. You lead negotiations that are key to international distribution of resources.

Integrity and compliance are at the core of your responsibilities. You will ensure that all financial, ICT, and business operations adhere to the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and risk management. You ensure accurate financial reporting that represents OCA’s financial situation to stakeholders and donors.

You will actively participate in OCA and MSF Netherlands management platforms, providing key insights and management information to support collective decisionmaking. Your contributions will help steer the organization towards achieving its mission objectives effectively. You create a safe working environment within your teams. Candidate profile

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is essential.
  • Professional Experience: 10+ years of experience in finance, including significant experience in a senior management role, preferably in an NGO / public environment. Preference for international environments.
  • Competencies: Strong strategic planning, leadership, stakeholder management and financial management skills are crucial. A deep understanding of humanitarian aid and the ability to navigate complex organizational landscapes is necessary.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required, while fluency in Dutch and French would be beneficial.
