Finance Director Canada

The position

The Finance Director Canada reports to the divisional Director Finance & Control and is part of the Canadian management team headed by the Managing Director Canada.

Located in Vancouver and Quebec.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Management of the Finance, IT, Legal and Risk Management functions of the Canadian subsidiary
• Align processes to meet the company’s finance & control standards
• Business control, analysis and reporting of the monthly results of the Canadian subsidiary and communication/discussion of these results with management
• Budgeting and forecasting processes of the Canadian subsidiary
• Assessment of proposals to customers with a view on profitability, inherent risks plus mitigation of such risks and cash flows
• Roll-out of and establishing adherence to Group / Corporate policies with respect to GRC, Treasury, Reporting
• Professionalization of support functions of the Canadian subsidiary
• Supervision over Cash planning/Cash management
• Contacts with external advisors and auditors in Canada
• Maintaining and improving the internal control framework in Canada
• Ensuring decisions are made in accordance with the Group authorization schedule
• Upgrading of the local information systems, in line with corporate strategy and policies
• Initiating and managing improvement projects
• Implement project-controls

Candidate profile

• University or Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent
• Certified auditor/controller or similar work experience
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an international finance position (multinational, Big 4 audit firm)
• Experience with project-control
• Previous experience with managing a multi-disciplinary team
• Proven track record with respect to achieving set targets/goals
• Practical mindset and very good analytical skills
• Fluent in Dutch, English and French (both spoken and written) and well developed communication skills
• Stress resistant and committed to meeting deadlines
• Sharp business sense, understands the dynamics of the business and, in cooperation with the operations, is able to translate this into numbers (actuals, forecasts, budgets, cashflow information)
• Having good judgment which decisions may or may not be taken independently
• Willing to live in Canada (Vancouver or Quebec) for at least a few years

Salary indication

€ 130.000 - € 170.000 OTE.
