The organisation

NEM Energy, established in 1929 and worldwide simply known as NEM, is a leading global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) company in the field of steam related equipment and exhaust systems.  
NEM’s headquarters are located in Zoeterwoude, the Netherlands and has offices in Germany and India. It employs 575 people in total and has an annual turnover of approximately EUR 300 million. 

The culture of the company is defined by its international history (and long shareholdership by Siemens) as well as the (industrial) sector in which it is active. Engineering is at the heart of the business. 

At the end of 2022, the NEM Energy business was carved out from Siemens Energy and acquired by Mutares SE & Co. KGaA (a German-based listed private equity firm). At the end of the first quarter of 2023, the company acquired Balcke Dürr being already a portfolio company of Mutares and operating in similar businesses. The companies have been integrated in one NEM Energy Group, which comes with changes in organizational structure, processes, IT, tooling and management reporting. NEM Energy is looking to hire a Head of Business Control

The position

• The Head of Business Control Manager will drive the success of NEM Energy Group with a focus on growth, performance improvements and business consolidation. He/she (hereafter referred to as he) will take ownership of the financial management reporting model which forms the basis of the monthly report to the MT and shareholder. 
• Together with the CFO, the Finance team, and line management, the Head of Business Control will analyze and challenge the results, develop accurate budgets and forecasts, and support with business decisions. He will be in control of the liquidity forecast and support the CFO to optimize the funding structure of the group. 
• The Head of Business Control will have a strong focus on developing clear reports and KPI dashboards which are available to the business through reporting tools like Power BI.
• In this new role, the Head of Business Control will set up and shape the group-wide business and management reporting framework. He will also be actively involved with, or coordinating multiple improvement initiatives related to ERP migrations, reporting tooling, data management and financial modelling. 

Tasks & responsibilities

The key responsibilities ot the Head of Business Control will be:

• Drive the financial management reporting model including the forecast of the group which forms the basis of the monthly report to the board and shareholder
• Run the weekly (13-weeks) and long term (12 month) liquidity planning
• Develop, implement and improve reports and KPI’s in Excel and Power BI which support the business achieving their goals
• Support management with financial analysis, developing business models, M&A and PMI activities, identifying needs and funding solutions

Candidate profile

Background and experience

• Completed university education (i.e. in Economics, Finance or Business Administration), preferably with post-master Qualification (RC/CMA);
• 10 to 15 years of experience in financial and analytical management functions as well as experience in business control. 
• Experience at a ‘big four’ accounting, consulting or corporate finance firm or bank is a plus
• Strong focus on automation and implementation of reporting tools (like Power BI);
• Experience with SAP and PowerQuery are a must and Power BI is a big plus;
• Experience with building group reporting models; IFRS and Dutch GAAP knowledge is preferred, but not strictly required;
• Experience with PE owned companies is preferred, but not strictly required.

• Business sense and focus on improving performance (identifying issues, developing KPIs);
