The organisation

Our client is an international market leader within the Electrical & Electronic Manufacturing industry. Their products are considered premium electronical products. For their office in Amsterdam they’re looking for an ambitious Head of Finance.

The position 

In this role you will report into the EMEA Finance Director and lead the overall delivery of strategic financial planning while also leading the Distributor & Emerging Markets finance team. The role will provide exposure to senior leadership in the EMEA region.

Tasks & responsibilities

The primary responsibility will be to lead the market finance teams and the hub to knit together the picture of cluster performance, bringing out the story behind the numbers and providing insights that inform commercial decision making to ensure they optimise use of their financial resources and continue to improve profitability. You are also responsible for delivering the long-term strategic planning process, working closely with the regional team and markets to shape the future growth strategy and provide clarity of the essential building blocks, driving timely decision making that supports the delivery of the strategy. In addition to the hub responsibilities you will form a close working group with your counterparts across the region that is responsible for developing best practice across the region, collaborating with Group on key transformation projects, and supporting the EMEA Finance Leadership Team with delivery of key initiatives. The role also plays an important part in talent development across the EMEA region.

Core accountabilities

  • Lead a high performing finance team of best-in-class business partners spanning FP&A responsibilities, and commercial and strategic decision support for expenditure across the markets.
  • Own the 5yr strategic planning process. Perform scenario modelling for range decisions and triangulate ranging and budgeting with the 5yr plan to ensure the hub's long-term growth targets are met. Develop comprehensive business cases for expansion. opportunities and drive projects across the group to enable subsidiary conversion.
  • Develop strong ties across the markets, region, and group to ensure a collaborative approach to improve ways of working across all finance areas. (business/process/systems). Hold DBS to account for service delivery.
  • Maintain a clear narrative with the region that tells the story of business performance across sell-out, sell-in, trade stock, P&L, balance sheet and working capital.
  • Coach and develop capability of the team; support career development and maximise potential through objectives and performance conversations.
  • Drive financial capability outside of finance by providing training and supporting the team members in their business objectives, and contribute to the overall financial capability building program across the cluster.

Candidate profile

You are a qualified accountant with 8-10 years of experience. You are fluent in English (both written and verbally) and you have excellent stakeholder management skills, especially on senior leadership level. You have experience in an international environment, ideally in a scale-up phase, experience strong growth. An ideal candidate has experience with the transition between an international distribution set-up to a subsidiary set-up. You are a strategist with a decent background on both accounting as well as FP&A matters.

  • Strong team player and sound management skills - visible and inspiring leadership style at both a local and international/regional level. Helping to manage, develop, up-skill and promote a best-in-class function.
  • Assertive, decisive, prepared to see through plans and overcome objections - and yet flexible around change and comfortable with ambiguity; a quick and agile learner.
