Head of Finance

The organisation

For one of our clients, Student Experience, we are looking for a Head of Finance in Amsterdam, with travel to Spain 2/3 days a month. Student Experience is an innovative full service concept that offers sustainable housing for students from all backgrounds. The position

The Head of Finance will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for business control, project control and management, financial reporting, forecasting and cash management, and coordination of the accounting process for the Netherlands and Spain. The ideal candidate should have a project background, be analytical, accurate, entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and communicative. The role requires travel 2-3 days per month.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Business control for real estate development projects in the Netherlands, Spain, and other potential European countries
• Project control and management, including sparring with real estate developers
• Financial reporting and forecasting for project entities
• Coordination of the accounting process, year-end reports, and audits
• Cash management for project entities
• Contact person for relevant external organizations in Spain and future countries where accounting is outsourced
• Manage the finance team in the Netherlands and Spain,
• Evaluate business cases and provide recommendations to the CFO
• Assist in the development of financial strategies and budgets for the organization
• Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and auditors

Candidate profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in business control, project management, or financial management
• Experience in the real estate industry is a plus
• Fluency in English is required, and fluency in Spanish and/or Dutch is a plus
• Strong analytical, accuracy, entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and communicative skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel 2-3 days per month
• Comfortable working in an informal and professional environment
