The department
Organisation
Strategy Architecture and Change (0SAC) Operations comprises a small number of teams with deep expertise and extensive knowledge of the Bank’s products and the financial markets. One of the teams is OSAC Global Process Management Payments, based in Amsterdam, and your role will be to lead this team of professionals.
You will manage around 20 specialists, usually senior process managers, who are grouped into clusters of expertise covering specific domains, or processes for which we are accountable, including Cross border and Domestic Payments and Receivables, Cheques, Global Clearing Solutions, Foreign Exchange, and Settlement Solutions for Corporates and Financial Institutions. While you will not be expected to share the same depth of knowledge as the specialists in your team, you will have a good understanding of each area.
Your role
You will act as a business partner, supporting the OSAC management to deliver global responsibilities, demonstrating agile, entrepreneurial leadership while being totally focused on the client. You will be expected to motivate your team, offering coaching and support as required, and to recommend training and development programmes for the senior process managers. In addition, you will encourage knowledge- sharing across the domains and will work with specialists in your team to optimise the opportunities within each area.
Managing the annual plan, setting and changing priorities as necessary, and keeping up to date with the changing requirements of stakeholders will also be your responsibility. As team leader, you will strengthen the management network across GTS, GTS Operations and Technology Services, while maintaining good relationships with global and regional processing centres to ensure objectives are fully aligned.
Your profile
You will have a good understanding of market infrastructures and trends, as well as how a global bank such as RBS operates. You will have a deep knowledge of transaction banking processes from an end-to-end business perspective, and will also:
- Be educated to degree level
- Feel at home working in an international environment
- Have excellent people management skills
- Be prepared to lead your team, and be a goal-getter rather than a gatekeeper
- Have excellent sales and presentation skills, and be able to promote your business areas at the executive level in many forums
- Have good oral and written English
- Be willing to travel to London frequently and across continents occasionally
