Interim Chief Financial Officer

The position

The CFO is a member of the management team (MT) and reports to the CEO. Monthly financial alliance with the CFO of the group is part of the position In cooperation with the MT he/she sets and implements the overall and finance strategy that benefits the company’s performance. Within the finance department he/she is accountable for accurate (financial) administration, controlling and risk management. The CFO is also member of the board of the company.

Tasks & responsibilities

Activities:

Strategy & planning

• Support the management team in formulating the company’s future direction and support tactical initiatives; jointly take key decisions
• Key person for the MT and the group regarding the activities within the finance department (global financial performance and analysis)
• Align different departments within the company; actively promote the departments cooperation
• Provide advice on financial decision-making (capital expenditures, debt/equity financing) and within other departments
• Organize the financial department for growth; financial economic policy, information provision, system/process optimization
• Act on problems w.r.t. financial policy, planning and control and organizational policy; takes initiative for improvements
• Pro-active reduce and optimize on Nett Working Capital (NWC)
• Develop financial and tax strategies

Lead operational activities

• Guide/assist the company’s hubs; advise on financial processes/systems
• Lead workforce (controllers and financial employees); timely acting on problems and provide support
• Coordinate and approve the consolidation of group financials including OPCO’s on a monthly/quarterly/yearly base
• Control the bank accounts, cash balances, cash flows, cash forecasts and budgeting processes
• Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions
• Manage third parties (service providers, authorities, etc.)

Commercial

• Promote and represent the organization in- and externally
• Build and maintain a network of relevant contacts and uses these contacts to realize organizational goals
• Build business cases; acts on relevant developments, explore new business opportunities and implements these
• Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans

Control

• Stimulate and control business development; create performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction
• Coordinate and secure adequate, accurate and timely reports of key financial figures to the MT and Board
• Mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile (legally, insurance and third party risk)
• Guard compliance with regulatory and compliance requirements and internal policies; improve where necessary
• Oversee the company’s financial (transaction processing) systems
• Review and approve all internal and external financial (tax) statements

Candidate profile

Knowledge and experience

• Academic background with specialization in finance/accounting/economics
• 15+ years of experience within an international organization
• Experience in working within a management team

Additional knowledge/capabilities

• High level of written and oral communication skills
• Fluent both written and oral in English and Dutch
• Preferably experience in a logistics / supply chain environment
