The company is active in operating comprehensive maritime simulation training centres equipped with simulators based on world-leading simulation technology. Their customers require training or assessing on simulators and do not choose to develop and maintain own in-house simulators for various reasons.

By using their own naval architects and a team of 3D modellers, Simwave offers facilities where you can use your own mathematical ship models in your own port-environment. Bring your own instructors, they take care of all technical, operational and hospitality support. Simwave centres are flexible centres, it adapts to your own corporate branding.

Their is not only on the navigation, engine and ship management related training but also on the emergency response training on board of cruise ships, such as advanced firefighting -and crowd control training. Because of the fast-growing technology, they have made it possible to integrate these applications.

The position

Would you like to take the financial lead as the Manager Finance & Control in the fast-growing and innovative company of Simwave? The Manager Finance & Control has a key role in the organisation and is responsible for the financial processes.

Tasks & responsibilities

Tasks
amongst other things must be able to:

  •  Allocate and Plan budgets together with the different departments;
  •  Provide financial and non-financial (e.g. KPI’s) reports to the management of the company;
  •  Advising on investment activities and provide strategies to support the overall goals of the company;
  •  Maintaining the overall financial health of the company;
  •  Assist the CTO & COO with their financial planning and budgeting;
  •  Reports to the CEO and closely cooperate with him/ her for the different activities at Simwave and partners.

Responsibilities

  •  Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices;
  •  Budgeting and forecasting;
  •  Managing an end-to-end audit process of current systems – while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors;
  •  Prepare and post monthly financial and non-financial (e.g. KPI’s) reports to the Board and Stakeholders;
  •  Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company actual performance compared to the business plans;
  •  Leading the possesses for invoicing, accounting, payrolling & HRM;
  •  Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively;
  •  Strive to work in the best interest of the company;
  • Keep the CEO up to date and express challenges and concerns in a timely manner;
  • Take initiatives and communicate solutions to the CEO;

Quality, health and safety, and environment

  • Ensures that the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policy is respected in accordance with National and International legislations and the Company requirements;

Competences within the function

  • Is authorised to plan and conduct internal meetings (Keeping the COO informed about planned meeting and related outcome);
  • In Consultation with the COO, is authorised to initiate commitments on behalf of Simwave BV conforming with the criteria in the Quality Management System;
  • Be replaced by team leaders in his/ her absence;
  • Can approve vacations/ Time off of Team Leaders, Instructors and Operators.

Candidate profile

  •  Proven experience as a Manager Finance & Control ;
  •  Proficient user of finance software (e.g. Unit 4);
  •  Experience with Salesforce is a pro;
  •  Fluent in English;
  •  Bachelor degree in finance;
  •  Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  •  A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles;
  •  Customer oriented;
  •  Problem solving & critical thinking;
  •  Shows a leadership style where others feel involved and valued;
  •  Establish a good working relationship with teams and the management;
  •  Team oriented with a flexible approach;
  •  Be quality conscious, service minded and creative;
  •  Fluent in English both verbal and written; and
  •  Flexibility to travel and work the hours as required.
