The organisation

BNP Paribas Cardif Schadeverzekeringen N.V. and BNP Paribas Cardif Levensverzekeringen N.V., located in Oosterhout (the Netherlands), are insurance companies in the insurance branch of the International BNP Paribas Group.

Over the past 15 years, it has laid a solid foundation in the Dutch market as an innovative market leader with specialized insurance products (main risks covered are disability, unemployment and termlife).

In its operations, BNP Paribas Cardif strives for a sound balance between the interest of all stakeholders. To help maintain this qualitative standard, as well as to improve its particular expertise of the Dutch market in their insurance companies, the Supervisory Board has an important role.

One of the Dutch members of the Supervisory Board will not be available for a new term. Therefore BNP Paribas Cardif seeks to recruit a Member of the Supervisory Board.

The position

The Supervisory Board (SB) oversees the general state of affairs of the insurance companies and oversees and advises the Managing Board. Specific points of attention are the subjects audit, risk and remuneration, for which purpose specific committees have been composed.

In its functioning, the SB is expected to strike a fair balance between the interests of all stakeholders involved, and take account of BNP Paribas Cardif’s corporate social responsibility. The SB will meet at least four times per year for a formal meeting (both in the Netherlands as in France); the individual supervisors are expected to regularly meet with BNP Paribas Cardif Board members informally, if and when needed.

The SB currently consists of four members. Two members are employee of BNP Paribas Cardif S.A. (dependent) Two other members are Dutch supervisors with no link as employee to BNP Paribas (Cardif) (independent).

Candidate profile

Your profile will meet following requirements:

• sound management, organisation and communication skills (> 10 years)
• previous experience as member of a supervisory board
• awareness of interpersonal and organization dynamics within an internationally active financial group, preferably in the banking channel
• independent, analytical and critical but solution-oriented attitude
• integrity, willingness to comply with applicable regulations
• insight into ethical business management and fair customer treatment
• affinity with risk management and compliance
• knowledge of reward and remuneration systems, market standards and recent developments
• cultural awareness
• excellent knowledge of English, good knowledge of French is an advantage
