The organisation
A fast growing stock listed International Company (Technology Industry).
The position
Group controller is a new position within a stock listed International Company (Technology Industry).
Tasks & responsibilities
The Group controller will primarily support the overall finance organization by providing strategic and day-to-day leadership over the following:
- Manage the Global General month end close for approximately 70 global ledgers.
- Further refinement and adherence to a global close calendar
- Reduce duration and streamline the timing of the period-end close process; enhance effectiveness of the process by refining tools (i.e., Blackline) and improving monthly review processes & procedures
- Integrate accounting from recent M&A transactions
- Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of IFRS, US GAAP and local STAT financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external statements (monthly, quarterly and annually)
- Identify and address accounting issues in a timely manner
- Develop, evaluate, and adopt IFRS and US GAAP accounting standard updates and develop, update and maintain relevant accounting policies.
- Review Corporate and regional key account reconciliations and ensure exceptions are corrected on a timely basis for various accounts, including intercompany accounts
- Working with the Technical Accounting department, develop, implement, and ensure adherence to all accounting policies and controls
- Ensure the consolidation is in conformity with IFRS and US GAAP and that eliminations and foreign currency translations are correct
- Review monthly close process including global consolidation and seek opportunities to standardize and automate processes to gain efficiencies
- Partner with Technical Accounting for Group and local external audit requirements and to support and manage the external audit process
- Partner with Global Tax for local tax reporting requirements
- Support ad-hoc projects as required, including projects to simplify Company's legal entity structure and centralize/simplify accounting processes
- Partner and coordinate cross-functionally to understand business transactions and effectively communicate accounting issues with various departments throughout the company.
- Assist Technical accounting with the preparation of accounting memos providing documentation of the Company's application of accounting principles to specific transactions
- Assist in monitoring workload, hire, train and evaluate staff, and hold employees accountable for performance and accuracy.
- Support business and personal development of team members, and motivate and reward employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and within company guidelines.
Candidate profile
Skills & experience required:
- 10+ years of applicable experience including 3 to 5 years of management experience is required, preferably within the technology industry (SaaS experience a plus)
- Big 4 experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS; US GAAP knowledge a plus
- Proven team leadership experience
- Experience with a Global company.
- Bachelor degree with emphasis in accounting
- Experience with Netsuite or equivalent ERP packages desired
