Senior Manager Operational Risk EMEA (MT)

Operational Risk is responsible for providing effective guidance and oversight of operational risk within Global Banking and Markets. This responsibility extends to assisting GBM Executive in setting direction on all operational Risk Management and Control issues in addition to identifying, assessing and monitoring key existing and new business risk in conjunction with business management.

Your Challenge
To build and develop a new ORM role within an existing EMEA Risk Matrix of 30 professionals. A management role in a changing organization with a strong focus on business and getting things done.  

Your role

• Understand internal and external issues/priorities and the (operational) risk appetite of the GBM Support and Business Services business to integrate these into decision making 
• Work with senior management GBM Support and Business Services business 
• Promote awareness around Operational risks 
• Instigate concrete initiatives aimed at reducing and preventing operational risk incidents and losses 
• Support (development and) implementation of ORM programmes, methodologies and tools 
• Support all in country/regional ORM with respect to GBM Support and Business Services knowledge 
• Support ORM and business in countries with the interpretation of policies, tools and methodology 
• Raise awareness and provide specific training and presentations on operational risk, ORM policies and guidelines 
• Co-ordinate and help perform the quality assurance role for all ORM EMEA processes 
• Provide appropriate challenge and oversight of the execution of the ORM framework in EMEA 
• Ensure execution of the ORM programs for regional GBM Support and Business Services 
• Identify existing and/or emerging operational risks and advise management on mitigating actions 
• Oversee the tracking of mitigating actions and outstanding issues raised against the business 
• Ensure regular reporting and escalation to Senior management in GBM Support and Business Services on Operational Risk matters 
• Deliver awareness programs and campaigns to increase operational risk understanding 
• Ensure the delivery of value added Operational Risk services to the business. 

Your profile

• Solid understanding of banking and its operations. More specifically around the GBM support and Business Services area of responsibility. Expertise in this field is key
• Knowledge of financial markets behaviors and products
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to ORM (e.g. Basel II)
• Understanding of Operational Risk and it’s implications (financial, reputational, capital)
• Management of teams including staff development and performance management
• Management skills, ability to operate and to be successful in an international matrix organization, experienced with positioning a new function within a organization 
• Leadership acumen
• Interpersonal and influencing skills
• Numerate with proven analytical skills
• Organisational sensitiveness
• 25% - 30% travel 
• Educated to degree level or equivalent Professional qualifications (Risk Management, Audit)
