HR VP Western Europe

Job Description

The HR VP Western Europe is responsible for all HR related activities in Germany, France, Belgium, UK, Italy, Netherlands, (Poland), Sweden, Russia and Spain. There are 12 production sites in this region and about 2500 FTEs.

He/She reports into the Regional President and the Global HR, and sits in the European Steering Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the HR vision and strategy in collaboration with the Global HR.
  • Provide strategic and tactical HR leadership and support for Western Europe. Identify, initiate and drive new strategies and implement best practices for the region.
  • Evaluate and communicate Group HR policies and programs to ensure they are implemented locally.
  • Develop and maintain union relations through a pro-active relations program. Advise senior management and site management on developing employee union relation issues, recommended actions and expected results.
  • Coordinate annual salary and performance reviews (PMDP), as well as guiding managers in maintaining fair and consistent compensation practices.
  • Responsible for monitoring the safety programs at all facilities in the region.
  • Provide guidance and recommends appropriate strategies to attract and retain high performance employees.
  • Establish positive relationships with group functions, management team Western Europe, department heads, external service resources and other business partners.
  • Manage and implement staffing plan and HR solutions for western Europe. Manage headcount, track employment trends, manage reductions in force and displacements and ensure legal obligations are met.
  • Bring the HR organization from "keeping things fine" to being a proactive business partner. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters in Human Resource Management, completed by further training in HR
  • 15+ years of working experience
  • 5 to 8 years in a similar role within an international environment, preferably multicultural
  • Experience in organizational development
  • Experience managing international HR processes and HR projects
  • Experience managing HR Business Partners in different locations
  • Strong local HR knowledge and business understanding
  • Solid intellect in human resource management with a "can-do" attitude
  • Self-driven, highly motivated and stress resistant personality
  • English proficiency (with one other European language is a plus)
