The organisation

Access Technology Group (ATG) is an innovative Dutch company located in the center of The Netherlands (Zaltbommel). The company started in 2002 with solutions for wireless infrastructures, public safety and security. Later, ICT services (internet and phone) were added to the range of solutions. Sensing an increasing demand for mobile solutions, especially in heavy industries with a need for increased safety levels at lower costs, VISICS was developed – the innovative and mobile solution for safe and efficient maintenance turnarounds and shutdowns. Since the release of VISICS the focus of ATG has increasingly been on this specific high-tech solution providing on-demand state-of-the-art observation, registration and communication techniques.

ATG is gradually developing from hardware to software-based solutions and wants to exploit the potential of VISICS even more in the direction of digitalization to take a different seat at the table. ATG distributes its products across the globe through partners and is in a joint venture in Canada. A software development unit is being developed in India since 2021 in cooperation with the nearby Indian Institute of Technology Madras. ATG has hubs for maintenance and assembly of the VISICS units in the Netherlands (close to the head office), Canada and Australia.

The position

In recent years, process and product optimization has been the priority for ATG. However, the company now wants to shift to a more long term perspective and focus on protecting the technological lead. Software will play an increasingly important role in the way ATG wants to serve its clients in the future. It has therefore been decided to create the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Tasks & responsibilities

The CTO is a key position and will determine and lead the direction of the innovation agenda and will be the guiding force to achieve the company's ambition of product leadership. She or he will contribute to the development of an organic organizational structure and processes that stimulate entrepreneurship and help build a company culture in which individuals are encouraged to take initiative and innovate. The CTO will work closely together with the CEO and act as his sparring partner in formulating the long-term strategy for ATG. They will also work together closely in engaging with the shareholders and building solid business cases in light of investment decisions.

Candidate profile

• Academic degree.
• At least 15 years of relevant (international) experience in information technology ideally related to safety/security solutions.
• Appreciation for hardware technology and heavy industry client environments.
• Deep understanding of developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and internet of things.
• Experience with new product development.
• Preferrably experienced in both a multinational corporate and a small/medium-sized, entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills. Able to lead and inspire others and successfully engage and effectively collaborate with colleagues at several locations across the globe.
• Outstanding strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent command of the English and preferably Dutch languages.
