The organization

Our client is an innovative player within the medical devices industry, working on a revolutionary technology in the field of patient recovery after severe nerve damage. To support the development of its technology we are seeking a motivated Firmware Manager, who is highly interested in the latest and most innovative technologies.

The position

As Manager Firmware Engineering you will manage the Firmware Engineering team in coordination with other functions, ensuring customer needs of each group are satisfied. You will guide the department, and oversee concurrent engineering of next generation firmware and infrastructure necessary for developing and verifying software assets used in the company’s Class I, II, and III implantable medical devices and their associated peripherals. You assure compliance with all applicable standards and procedures, and support in translating the vision, strategy, roadmaps, and plans into reality in support of the company’s strategic plan.

Tasks & responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the Firmware Engineering team and assuring compliance with all applicable standards and procedures
• Applying broad and in-depth engineering knowledge and understanding, while adhering to the requirements of a regulated development and manufacturing environment to guide the approach and goals of the firmware engineering organisation
• Providing engineering oversight and assistance in development activities as required
• Hiring, training, motivating, retaining, and developing departmental staff
• Ensuring that all regulatory and internal policies are followed

Candidate profile

Our ideal professional should have:

• Demonstrated track record leading teams in delivering high quality, timely products that meet internal and external customer needs
• BS in Electrical Engineering, MicroTechnic, Computer Science or Physics Required; MS, PhD preferred
• 7 years of product development experience with evidence of multiple product deliveries to the field in medical device or other regulated industry
• 3 years of IT leading experience
• Embedded C and C++ with inter-processor communication and control.
• CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance
