Senior System Architect – Manager Software Development

Our client, Berlinger Group, is a traditional and independent Swiss company specialized in the production of innovative and customized solutions for monitoring temperature-sensitive goods in the pharmaceutical and medical industry as well as for doping control equipment to ensure safe transportation and storage of samples in the sports industry. With their SmartView application, Berlinger provides an integrated and open platform that enables to filter, analyse, and predict important data collected during transport and storage of valuable medicines, vaccines, and pharmaceutical products.

The position

As the temperature monitoring products and solutions market is growing rapidly, we are looking for a bright and committed:
System Architect – Manager Software Development.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for a cost-effective, flexible, and scalable software architecture and a strong product roadmap.
• Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to the agile software development teams (9 FTE in Amersfoort, Netherlands and 9 FTE in Timisoara, Romania).
• Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance.
• Ensure clarity and the existence of internal procedures for backups, releases, and upgrades.
• Lead or participate in R&D meetings, Sprint reviews, Retrospect and Refinement sessions. • Manage technical vision, budget, and team to enable innovation and business agility.

Candidate profile

How You Complete the Team:

• Experienced in architectural design of complex software applications based on PHP.
• Experienced in cloud applications based on Amazon Webservices (AWS).
• Application and configuration of typical development tools (Jenkins, Github, Bitbucket, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
• Deployment in multiple stage environments incl. risk and incident analysis and reporting.
• Release management of service oriented and distributed systems.
• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• A clear vision of what a successful and happy engineering organization that solves complex challenges looks like and how to achieve it.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to be personable yet persistent.
• Bonus points for experience in cold chain logistics, clinical trial / healthcare markets.
• Experienced to work in international business, willingness to travel occasionally.
• Excellent language skills in English and (nice to have) also in German.
• College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science/engineering.
