The organisation is an international manufacturer and supplier of high-tech and innovative machines.

The role:

To support the rapid growth of the organisation, there is a need for a Director Spareparts & Consumables to lead and manage the world wide spare parts operations.
He/She reports to the COO and is part of the Executive Team Operations. The Director Spare Parts & Consumables directly supervises the spare parts managers of the organisation’s facilities.

The Director Spare Parts & Consumables will be responsible for developing and implementing the spare parts strategy which encompasses developing the distribution and storage channels for the divisions of the organisation globally. Main challenges are the large quantity of spare parts partly in a seasonal curve and this in relation to the choice of doing things locally or centrally whilst managing a complex network and also the introduction of a new ERP system for spare parts. Furthermore the role supervises order desk stock control, transportation, warehousing and ensuring structures are in place to monitor the flow of spare parts.

Is primarily concerned with ensuring the integrated success of the spare part business unit and is end responsible for drafting and implementing spare parts objectives and strategy.
Oversees the movement of spare parts in the supply chain, liaising with many parties including the organisation’s Center managers, suppliers of spare parts, logistic partners and internal stakeholders.
Sets the leadership standard in the discipline and plays an important role in succession planning and talent development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyzing information and problems in the chain to plan spare parts demand, performance improvements and new solutions in order to create an effective operation of the various spare parts locations.
  • Increasing business growth by establishing and implementing spare parts business strategies, plans and objectives.
  • Arbitrating and negotiating with suppliers and customers in order to minimize order to delivery lead time and to create an excellent customer service support and smooth logistics.
  • Executing Spareparts & Consumables campaigns in co-operation with the Product manager After market.
  • Evaluating and supervising the cost, quality, quantity and good efficiency of the storage and movement of spare parts.
  • Managing strategic response to external influences, such as legislation, fuel costs and environmental pressures.
  • Providing advice and leading spare parts managers toward their professional development.
  • Taking care of all aspects of effective administrative management, financial management and reporting and human resource management.

Requirements:

For the Director Spareparts & Consumables, we are looking for a candidate with a good overview of the operations while remaining hands-on and results driven. He/She is a people manager (coach) who creates an inspiring work environment and communicates the vision to energise others.

  • University degree in a business related field.
  • At least 10 years of supply chain management experience, with at least 4 years at senior level. In particularly experience in parts and distribution.
  • Experience in managing and driving process improvement whilst managing multiple stakeholders and by delegating responsibility.
  • A problem solver, demonstrating sound judgement and decision making, with superior customer service skills.
  • Able to manage complexity and to lead from a distance, comfortable in an environment of continuous growth.
  • Drives result and takes initiatives to achieve goals
  • Team player, who builds trust and relationships with own staff, within the Board and with stakeholders throughout the company, but also externally.
  • A coach who creates an inspiring work environment and who communicates the vision to energise others.
  • Bilingual in Dutch and English
  • Willingness to travel
