Global Trade Compliance Lead

The organisation

Our global pharmaceutical client is looking for a Global Trade Compliance Lead (hybrid working model, 60% onsite) in Zwolle (the Netherlands) or Ireland. The primary focus is the logistics location in the Netherlands, but this position will also support other EMEA sites in the network with tactical and compliance activities.

The position

Your responsibility is to support compliance and operational import/export activities in the Netherlands at the distribution hub to ensure adherence to laws, improve operational efficiency, and reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers. Responsibilities include the execution and management of daily import/export compliance activities/transactions, the establishment of strong partnership linkages, providing guidance to local personnel, assisting in the development & deployment of trade compliance procedures, identifying/implementing trade optimisation opportunities, and serving as a subject matter expert for the GTC organisation. In addition, this position will directly lead a team of two individuals in the Netherlands in the execution of these responsibilities.

Candidate profile

Do you have a background in trade compliance and distribution and do you like to improve processes? You are the ideal candidate if cooperating with others comes easily to you and you are open-minded about other cultures. As a people leader, you like to support people in developing their work process and themselves. Furthermore, you have:

• University degree in a related field (international trade, supply chain, logistics, legal preferred);
• 7+ years of experience working in trade compliance, broker’s agency or a multinational company, consulting firm, or logistics/supply chain;
• In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations and operational activities and experience with AEO;
• English and other EU languages preferred (German or French)
• Technical knowledge related to classification and duty preference programs;
• Must have excellent ability in managing Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP ECC. Optional: Visio, SAP Global Trade Services (GTS).
