The organisation

Our client is the specialist when it comes to supplying and manufacturing the most exclusive natural stone that is used for both interior and exterior projects. The company participates in a large number of prestigious projects and provides natural stone that is used amongst others in government buildings, hotels, mega yachts and high-end residential buildings. All over the world.

As a global player, the company is present on the international market and works regularly with acclaimed architects, interior designers and general contractors, either from home or abroad, when executing prestigious assignments.

The position

The Business Unit Production & Logistics is an independent BU. The team on the work floor currently exists from 2.5 FTE (supplemented by temporary workers), all in a combined function of Production and Logistics with the focus on Production. The team is to be extended shortly, making it more specialized functions (think of a polisher, (CNC) operator etc.).

For the time being, Logistics is mainly managed by the Project Managers. In the future, Logistics will be centralized within the BU Production & Logistics. By that time the Manager Production and Logistics has full responsibility over both Manufacturing and Logistics. Important to know is that the organisation has recently purchased the most advanced and sophisticated machinery to deal with the high end demands associated with very complex and innovative projects.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Describing the production process, setting the quality standards, writing the manuals, organizing machine maintenance and organizing the planning
• Building the team with a maximum of flexibility of the employees within production. Implementing a Performance Management System
• Making improvement proposals with regard to machinery / planning / investments
• Acting as the first and only point of contact for communication and coordination of the production and personnel with various other departments within the organization
• Training and supervision of staff (working and control instructions)
• Improve delivery speed by shortening processing times throughput the production
• Increase reliability by delivering complete orders, in accordance with the quality standards and time schedules, to the customer
• Quality standards are leading within the organisation
• Increasing the direct profit contribution by improving labour productivity and machine efficiency within production
• Reducing costs by minimizing the consumption of materials
• Increasing professionalism within the production process

• Bachelor degree in the field of technology followed by job-related training and / or training to maintain the level of technological knowledge
• Minimum of 5 years of practical production management experience within a technical manufacturing company. Technological insight regarding a production process realizing complex and/or high end projects
• Managerial experience within high quality production
• Willing to gain extensive knowledge of materials and in-depth knowledge and skills of all machining techniques related to the business
• Strong planning and organizational skills. Focus on details
• Stress-resistant, practical problem solving and good communication skills (fluent in Dutch and English)
• Decisive, takes initiatives, energetic and persuasive personality
• Focus on targets with a proactive attitude. Persuasive
• Well organized. Not only from a technical perspective but also from an administrative point of view.
