Procurement Manager

The organisation

Our client is a Biotechnology company that develops life-changing RNA therapies to meet the unmet need of individuals and families with common and rare diseases. They have a passion and commitment to make a difference in the lives of the communities we serve. We are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to join the Finance department, located in Leiden, the Netherlands.

The position

As the Procurement Manager, you will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for implementing and managing the procurement strategy and process from scratch, including vendor selection and vendor acceptance for both direct and indirect purchases. You will also develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies and procedures, and will provide functional leadership on procurement practices to the team. Additionally, you will manage strategic, tactical and ad-hoc procurement activities within the company, liaise with the management team and business teams on supplier selection and supplier acceptance, and deliver required outcome by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers.

Candidate profile

The ideal professional possesses excellent interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial mentality, hands-on attitude, results-oriented, and passion for creating transformative medicines to help patients affected by diseases. They will drive success, overcome obstacles and achieve results. Moreover, you will bring along:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level;
• 7+ years of relevant experience in procurement/sourcing area;
• Relevant experience as a procurement manager, preferably in biotech/pharma company;
• Strong project management skills, strong financial & analytical skills;
• Experience in implementing innovative solutions to improve processes and identify drivers for savings and efficiencies;
• Strong knowledge and understanding of procurement policies and procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.
