COO

The organisation

For our client, a leading high-tech service provider, we are looking for an eager and energetic COO with extensive experience at top technological companies.

The position

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is an operations-driven role. The challenge for the COO is to deliver world class operational performance. The COO is responsible for the daily operation of production, manufacturing, engineering, distribution and purchasing. Playing a right-hand role to the CEO, you will be responsible for both the execution and continued sharpening of the overall business strategy.

Providing leadership and guidance across a number of the business’ most critical functions, the COO will provide strategic and operational support to help drive the organization’s future growth and financial performance. He / she directs the organization and manages the process. To this end, the COO formulates an appealing plan and will realize these plans.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is an eager and seasoned leader with a solid Operational background. He / she has the gravitas and confidence to establish a leadership position within a complex, high-tech, manufacturing industry. The candidate has extensive experience with assessing operational variables within organizations, and has the skill to design and implement improvements through an effective master planning. 

The ideal candidate has a strong drive, is energetic and has shown interest in setting up expansions in terms of processes at medium sized and/or large companies. He / she is a strategic thinker, able to translate a strategic vision into deliverable plans, provides an overview, and then effectively implement those plans, while installing/maintaining a strong customer focus in the organization. Ideally, the candidate has done this successfully before.

Requirements: 

• Track record of broad operational leadership and/or general management roles within discrete manufacturing and engineering environments (high tech). Substantive knowledge of the operation (e.g. master planning, supply chain, capacity planning, procurement, etc.);
• Experience with working in entrepreneurial growth environments, with evidence of having contributed to medium and long-term strategic decision-making;
• Track record of building and motivating high-performing teams (line management as well as project management); with first-class customer service/delivery ingrained in company culture;
• Experience with working in international, corporate organizations and engaging with teams from different cultures. In particular experience with Asian cultures;
• Focus on (operational) excellence, that exceeds customers’ and stakeholders expectations;
• Experience with automation systems in manufacturing environments;
• Highly motivated, self-starter, and pro-active towards clients;
• Positive (and hands-on, if needed) attitude and approach; fact based decision maker;
• Academic background (preferably technical education);
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
