The organisation

For a logistical services company based in Rotterdam we are looking for an experienced Deputy Managing Director.

The position

In this role you will be responsible for the daily management of the Rotterdam branch (17 FTE). For this exciting role you need to have a high level of service, a clear vision of logistics and a "can do" mentality. Furthermore the ideal candidate is a real problem solver; 'no' is not an option for the clients. 

Tasks & responsibilities

The Deputy Managing Director will report directly to the Managing Director Germany and is responsible for the Rotterdam branch (17 FTE). You will divide your tasks between representative tasks, operational, personnel and financial management, strategic outreach and business development. You will have an opportunity to add major input into the future direction of the business while at the same time be given the autonomy to shape and add structure and processes to the organisation.

  • Manage the daily business per the agreed business and operating principles
  • Define and direct the implementation of short and long term strategic plans and budgets to meet goals
  • Financial and personnel management (HR)
  • Operational management daily business
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key accounts and suppliers
  • Setup and analysis of reports for the Rotterdam branch

Candidate profile

  • Entrepreneurial with academic level of experience and/or education
  • At least 10 years of management experience, preferably in a logistics related company
  • Result driven and proactive attitude, able to solve business challenges
  • Professional proficiency in German, English and Dutch (verbal and written)
  • Leader with hands-on attitude, effective interpersonal skills and excellent management skills who is able to communicate with diverse groups of people
  • Strong decision maker with the ability to prioritize activities to achieve goals
  • Able and willing to travel on a regular basis outside the Netherlands
  • Strong negotiating and relationship management
  • A relevant international network in Intermodal transportation is an asset
  • High level of service to the customers, can do attitude
