The position

The new GM will continue to build on the existing client portfolio, increase and develop the client footprint in the Benelux territory. The GM will design and execute the Company’s short, mid and long term strategies, identify new sales opportunities, increase market share and profitability, and will have full P&L responsibility.

This full-time position is located near Rotterdam, South Holland, and will report to the Group Managing Director.

Tasks & responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, develop key strategies and give direction to enable development and growth of the business.
  • Recruitment, development, training, appraisal and dismissal of staff.
  • Oversee and manage services, quality, planning, scheduling and safety.
  • Project Management of large projects including assisting in the planning, quality, safety to ensure key targets are met.
  • Sales – manage and oversee the team of Area Sales Managers, planning, strategies, and performance monitoring, to maintain and develop the customer base.
  • Develop annual budgets and targets.
  • Complete formal monthly reports of business activity.
  • Assist with financial planning to ensure continuity and solvency of the company.
  • Maintain and improve company policies.

Candidate profile

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a similar business as a GM or similar.
  • Previous experience in a technical sales role or similar.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Dutch and English required.
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, business management, or similar would, be an advantage.

Personal Competencies

  • Several years’ experience in a management role in a similar company.
  • A mature personality with strong leadership skills and a strong commercial drive.
  • A developer rather than a 'maintainer'.
  • Excellent communication skills, good at setting up priorities, and intellectual flexibility (the ability to work operationally, tactically and strategically) are required.
  • Strong drive for results up against agreed targets.
  • A team player that understands the necessity for sharing knowledge.
  • Excellent commercial leadership skills, charismatic and decisive.
  • Client solution oriented and positive attitude.
  • Motivational and problem-solving skills.
  • Dynamic and highly reliable.
  • Analytical and well organised.
  • Ability to create added value through customer insights and their technical business process.
  • Ability to combine and balance Company’s business objectives with client’s needs.
