General Manager Softgoods

The organisation

Shimano is a leading worldwide supplier of highly advanced bicycle components, fishing tackle, and sports apparel. Shimano Europe Holding B.V. is the intermediate between the headquarter in Japan and the European bicycle and fishing tackle market for marketing, sales, product development and technical service.

Shimano Europe maintains intensive contacts with distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s), wholesalers and the bicycle and fishing tackle retail business.

The European Head office will be moved from Nunspeet to Eindhoven as of January 2017. To strengthen and building our softgoods division we are currently looking for a General Manager Softgoods, Strategic business driver from the apparel industry.

The position

In this position you are responsible for the results of the softgoods division in Europe. You formulate and implement the strategies for the brands Pearl Izumi and Shimano. You develop the recognition of the Pearl Izumi brand.

You analyze the sales results and provide leadership to a new team of twenty professional and enthusiastic employees. Together with the MD's of our local sales offices across Europe as well as the exclusive distributors and their sales teams you will be closely involved in the sales activities an will maintain frequent contact with the European Marketing Director and the Sales Director (hardgoods).

You report to the Managing Director Europe.

Candidate profile

Shimano is looking for a assertive manager who is creative in his/her approach and flexible in thinking. Open attitude and good insight in market results and trends. Analytical ability to switch between details and overall strategy.

Your profile:

• Bachelor degree, for example within the field of Commercial Economics or International Business
• Several years of management experience in a similar position and in an international environment
• Experience in (sportive) softgoods/apparel and the industry is a must
• Interest and affinity with the bike industry and Shimano’s products
• Excellent proficiency in English, both verbal and written
• The position of the General Manager Softgoods is currently based in Nunspeet (NL), but as from Januari 2017 our EU headquarters will move to Eindhoven
