Forwarding
Broekman Logistics is an international freight forwarder and provides global logistics service solutions throughout the world. Broekman Logistics offers the following freight forwarding services: Road transport, Sea freight, Air freight, Rail transport and Chartering.
Broekman’s own multilingual team is represented at logistics hotspots around the world, i.e.  Rotterdam and Venlo in the Netherlands, Antwerp in Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, China and 15 different locations in India. This ensures that they understand customs procedures in all the countries they operate in. 

In addition to Freight Forwarding, Broekman operates Shipping, Warehousing & Distribution and Breakbulk Terminals.

The position

Freight Forwarding is a substantial part of Broekman’s business. It represents about 80% of their global revenues. The current Director IFF has been promoted to CEO, hence Broekman is now seeking a strong leader for all their international forwarding offices with responsibility for the daily operations and a focus on operational, financial, and commercial results.
With the global challenges in the Freight Forwarding business and the vast expansion of the company in Asia, you will need to create a solid global team compliant with processes and competent in systems (CargoWise).

As Director IFF, you are part of the global Board of Directors. You will work from the Rotterdam office and will travel to the international Broekman offices regularly. You will have three main responsibilities:
First of all, you will draft the strategic annual plan and long-term strategy which includes preparing and executing the annual budget. You lead the General Managers and Branch Managers of all international offices and approve the office plans and budgets and you agree on KPIs for the individuals you lead. 

Broekman wants to make a positive impact with quick response times in a fast and demanding market. You will ensure swift and adequate responses to client requests that come via the agency network and sales team. You may also optimise procurement for Freight Forwarding purposes. You will therefore manage the General Manager Transport, who also works for the other divisions within Broekman and is responsible for all procurement and execution of road transport. 

Secondly, in close cooperation with the Director Business Development, you are co-responsible for the creation and execution of the annual sales plan. You keep ahead of market developments and maintain this insight by attending network meetings and trade fairs. You are our front-facing Freight Forwarding representative to the world. You play a pivotal role in reaching out to potential clients and meeting with existing clients to continue to scale up and improve the services we offer. 

Finally, you will analyse KPIs regarding productivity and quality. These figures will guide you in steering towards optimal use of resources and improved efficiencies. Together with the Head of PMO, you carry responsibility for the roll-out and optimisation of CargoWise in all offices. 

Candidate profile

• Seasoned freight forwarding (4PL) professional with leadership experience and responsibility for one or more international offices. Preferably experience in building a global team.
• International experience and international network in the freight forwarding sector.
• Experience in implementing CargoWise or a similar system is a plus.
• Hands-on and a commercial and pragmatic approach combined with a helicopter view.
• Entrepreneurial, ambitious and analytical approach.
• Proficient in the English language. Dutch is a plus. 
• Ability to travel mainly across Europe. Occasionally to Asia.
• Residing in the Netherlands or willing to relocate.
