The organisation

Market leader in acrylic glazing solutions. Due to confidentiality, the name of the client will be revealed at a later stage.

The position

The organisation develops standard and custom made acrylic products in small and larger series. The production is flexible and made to order. 

The Manager Development and Research reports directly to the Director/owner as a staff department. He/She leads s team of 13 FTEs in product development (engineering the tools), research, tooling production and production preparation. 

Tasks & responsibilities

• Leading in new product innovations and providing support in the various phases of product development
• Providing support to the production department to ensure a smooth production process
• Deciding on the technical feasibility to conduct a production trial (go/no go) in production for new/adapted products or raw materials
• Setting priority in and proposing suitable technology, leading to higher capacity, higher yields, lower costs and/or higher efficiencies
• Exploring new technologies for designs, software and manufacturing technology
• Directing the research of materials, processes and testing.

Candidate profile

• University degree in Product Development and/or (Mechanical) Engineering is preferred
• 10 to 15 years of working experience 
• At least 5 to 8 years of experience in R&D 
• Experience in vacuum forming/composite/glass/glazing preferred
• Excellent leadership and inspiring people management skills
• Excellent project management skills in a manufacturing environment 
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with multiple stakeholders
• Ability to be the linking pin between R&D and production
• Flexible and creative
• Hands on mentality
• Bilingual in Dutch and English. Additional knowledge of German is preferred
