Job profile:
The Operations Director is responsible, both directly and indirectly, for all production related activities within the various business units. Specifically, he/she
- directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, manufacturing engineering, materials, quality, warehouse, EHS, Lean, purchasing and other production related activities.
- effectively develops the location in accordance with the company strategy by managing resources, departments and quality. Aligning plant departments with corporate strategy to reach optimal results by keeping market/customer demand.
- prepares the organisation for ongoing change and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, manufacturing engineering, materials, quality, warehouse, EHS, Lean, purchasing and other production related activities.
- Coordinate and lead plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner and fully meeting customer requests.
- Implement and manage cost effective systems for control of process improvements, capital and operating expenditures, manpower levels, scheduling and distribution.
- Establish and monitor measurements for overall plant performance for quality, delivery and cost.
- Effective and efficient use of Lean Manufacturing and associated tools in all areas of the organization.
- Provide leadership and training on tools to accomplish company goals and objectives. Fully support improvement programs.
- Communicate frequently and effectively to associates throughout the organization. Establish and maintain effective communication vehicles such as toolbox meetings, employee meetings, roundtables discussions, and one-on-one meetings.
- Fully support and implement quality programs at the location(s).
- Develop innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide advice, guidance and leads managers in their professional development.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering
- Good financial understanding
- At least 5 years of manufacturing management experience in a machining environment (assembly, distribution, planning and logistics)
- Previous background in Lean Manufacturing, Materials Management and Quality
- Experience in managing and driving manufacturing improvements and projects (lean philosophy)
- Customer focused attitude
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate on all levels within the organization
- Strong analytical skills, demonstrating sound judgement and decision making
- Drives result and takes initiatives to achieve goals
- Good relationship builder with ability to merge different groups of people, processes and tools
- Ability to make unpopular decisions that will improve the organization
