Planning & Monitoring Manager -Europe

Client

Our client is a global operating pharmaceutical company with their European HQ located in Utrecht. For the European HQ we are looking to hire a Planning & Monitoring Manager Europe.

Objective

As a member of the Europe Planning & Monitoring team he ensures that planning is carried out to achieve the business targets, monitors the achievement of the planned results and carries out business improvement initiatives. In addition to leading/participating in business and process improvement initiatives the Manager is primarily responsible for the preparation of the yearly Work Plan and for the monthly and quarterly reporting of performance.

Key result areas

1. Yearly Work Plan preparation
• Prepare Work Plan instructions and guidelines for the markets and functions
• Co-ordinate the preparation and review of the plans of the markets and functions
• Ensure appropriate systems and processes for Work Planning
• Prepare Work Plan and appropriate analysis for review by Europe management
• Prepare presentations and communicate key messages

2. Participate and/or leading business improvement initiatives
• Ad hoc activities to improve business
• Lead or participate in project teams
• Participate in business development initiatives
• System and process improvements

3. In depth analysis and support to several markets and functions
• In depth knowledge and understanding of selected markets and functions
• Ensure adequate in market capabilities for Planning & Monitoring activities
• Analyze and review the business with the markets and functions
• Improvement projects
• Prepare management information and presentations

4. Monthly and quarterly performance reporting
• Co-ordinate and issue the Europe monthly and quarterly performance report and estimates
• Financial and business analysis of performance

5. Monthly management accounting process
• Lead activities to improve data flow and accuracy and timeliness of monthly data from
markets and functions
• Co-ordinate the process to reconcile management information to financial information
• Recommend and implement improvements

Ideal candidate profile

Given the criticality of this role as well as its regional exposure to senior management of the organization a professional with multinational experience is required. The following requirements are critical:

• 8 -10 years experience in a multinational environment
• College/University or similar education level in economics or business administration with additional
experience in accounting and/or controllership (RA/RC or foreign equivalent);
• Successful track record in a finance management position in an operating company of an international organisation (ideally gained within a pharmaceutical company)
• A seasoned business professional, effective communicator comfortable in dealing with and influencing senior decision makers.
• (International) Project management experience is required
• Good people skills at all levels (up and downwards in the organization)
• Strong process skills to manage and improve complex processes cross functional
• Hands on mentality and deadline driven
• ERP, Oracle Financials knowledge and ms office skills are a strong plus
• Sense for Business and Control
• Good analytical skills
• Drive for results
• Overall view and concern for accuracy and details
• Flexible, self confident, self motivated personality
• Fluent in English
• Willingness to travel
