Plant Manager (Food)

Our client is a leading organization providing services in the food industry.

The position

The Plant Manager is end responsible for the operations at the plant and ensures that all activities at the site are in compliance with the (inter)national standards, regulations and policies of the organization.

This includes all elements of manufacturing including, (food) safety, quality, maintenance, productivity to optimize the plant’s resources and production capacity.

He or she is accountable for developing a high performance team and nurturing an environment which encourages new ideas and innovation.

This position directly or indirectly manages all plant disciplines and functions associated with the Raw Product Receiving, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance and Engineering.

The Plant Manager reports directly to the Manufacturing Director. 

Tasks & responsibilities

• Contribute to development and execution of the organization's overall strategy, with specific responsibility for manufacturing in order to drive profitable growth
• Responsible for all activities related to effective conversion of raw product into finished or semi-finished products
• Accountable for the development and realization of investment proposals at plant level, including technical specifications, realization and budget control
• Ensure the food safety of the organization’ s products, by the development and implementation of processes and procedures
• Ensure customer relations and communication on quality issues in close cooperation with sales and ensure that plant operations are consistent in their execution of the quality programs and systems
• Responsible for the setting and delivering of the agreed operational excellence plan in close collaboration with the other plant management team members
• Responsible for efficient and effective manufacturing processes and operations in order to provide the agreed quality at lowest possible costs
• Maintain, further develop and anchor relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Responsible for the development of the team, by making key decisions on personnel training programs, succession planning and incentives

Candidate profile

Our client is looking for a Plant Manager who is able to stimulate a performance driven culture based on trust and support (empowerment). In order to remain competitive, the need for continuous improvement is essential.

The Plant Manager will embrace innovation and creative thinking to introduce new process technologies. The Plant Manager is collaborative and brings alignment between the local plants. Besides a stronger collaboration with the U.S. is needed, to ensure the best practices are shared. He or she has a can do attitude and is open-minded.

Other requirements include:

• Master or Bachelor degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or similar field
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a plant manufacturing environment in international (food) organization, previous key roles: Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, Technical Services Manager or equal
• Experience in a highly automated environment is preferred\
• Excellent knowledge of relevant (food)safety and quality systems and programs
• Inspiriting leader and team-player who drives collaboration
• Hands-on, solution-focused and creative thinking
• Experienced in continuous improvement
• Fluent in Dutch and English
