The organisation

Our client was established in 1920 as a family-owned inspection company of grain. Over the years activities expanded immensely and now have a global reach (> 70 countries) in servicing commodity markets like agriculture, minerals, chemicals, food & feed, biofuels & biomass and the energy markets. The core activities consist of Quality Assurance and Integrated Logistics. In 2014 a total number of 3150 employees generated a profitable turnover of 750 million euro’s.

A vital part of Integrated Logistics services is accomplished by Energy division, which offers leading integrated supply chain solutions to the offshore and energy sector. 

The position

The Energy sector is targeted as a strategic growth activity. With the aim to realize progress by identifying, developing and executing business strategies which will further strengthen the position as a leader in this flourishing market. 

In order to benefit from the vast market opportunities and realize the anticipated growth, we search qualified candidates for the position of Regional Director, who delivers strategic leadership and is P&L responsible for his Business Units. The Regional Director is a member of the senior management team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.    

Tasks & responsibilities

• Actively contribute to the development of the corporate long term vision, mission and strategy in line with the organisation’s values
• Develop and implement annual and midterm business plans including operational budgets
• Build, expand and maintain strong relationships at senior level with key customers
• Act as hands-on leader who directly coaches, inspires and motivates his Business Unit Managers who indirectly stimulates all other employees in the organization
• In managing daily business, realise the most efficient use of people, resources and capital
• Create, maintain and contribute to an effective and positive team spirit
• Report on a regular basis during meetings with the CEO and other Directors reviewing the progress and realisation of the operational, commercial and financial targets and the execution of the strategy

Candidate profile

• Degree educated or equivalent in business management discipline e.g. Masters or MBA).
• Minimum 10 years experience at senior management level within a logistics function, preferably within the oil & gas or energy industry
• A driven and inspiring leader with excellent strategic, commercial and people management skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams to get results
• Possesses excellent analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking skills
• A commercial entrepreneur with a sharp focus on clients needs
• A strong set of personal values matching both the organisational values and its vision is essential
• A champion of change, resilient and able to push back as required
• The ability to mobilise globally, often at short notice to deal with operation issues or to cover for other Directors
• IT literate and proficient in the use of MS Office
• Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing. A second language capability would be highly beneficial.
