The organisation

Our client is the specialist when it comes to supplying and manufacturing the most exclusive natural stone that is used for both interior and exterior projects. The company participates in a large number of prestigious projects and provides natural stone that is used amongst others in government buildings, hotels, mega yachts and high-end residential buildings. All over the world.

As a global player, the company is present on the international market and works regularly with acclaimed architects, interior designers and general contractors, either from home or abroad, when executing prestigious assignments.

The position

As Sourcing Director you are responsible for finding and tapping new purchasing channels (stone quarries) globally. You will explore local markets in i.e. Brazil, Mexico, China, Turkey, Italy, Spain, India and Iran to identify the best suppliers and negotiate deals for their most exclusive collections. You will also be responsible for sourcing the best local sawing mills.

You will implement new systems and reduce costs by optimising the purchasing flow. You will sign up with suppliers and negotiate the terms of payment. In the longer run, your responsibilities will also include setting up and managing local purchase offices.

Key deliverables for this position are:

• Clear and visible reduction of both fixed costs and variable costs 
• Clear and substantial policy regarding stock acquisition and supply 
• Lead the organization on purchasing: how to buy in best interest for the company
• Keep a punctual system and data registration on who, what, where of purchased products and services 
• Set up a software/purchase system 
• Set up structure regarding improvement of the purchasing process of stones, slabs, and all other products and services. As well as transport/logistic. 
• Set up the standard for the quality of items/services purchased 
• Bring order in legal matters and contract for Solid Nature

In this position you will report to the General Manager.

Candidate profile

The perfect candidate is young, intelligent, eager and entrepreneurial in spirit. We are looking for an exceptional negotiator, driven by results. You are looking for a highly dynamic role which requires you to take initiative and travel frequently - whenever you see a new opportunity. 

You have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) and a minimum of five years’ experience with structuring / automating purchasing processes. You are fluent in English and preferably speak Italian, French and/or Persian (moderate). You are familiar with working in a very demanding environment where only “the best is good enough”.
