Strategic Business Director

The position

The Strategic Business Director will advise the Managing Director and Management Team on matters related to the organizations strategic direction, objectives and external best practices.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Advises and supports the Managing Director to ensure effectiveness of current business practices and makes recommendations for sustainable change
• Performs value added analyses and research in support of the organizations strategic objectives and provides input for the development of the organizations strategic direction, goals and objectives
• Advises the Managing Director and the organizations Management on related matters to drive performance and meet customer needs
• Identifies and evaluates new business opportunities for the organization and advises the Managing Director on such matters
• Monitors strategy implementation and suggests improvements to reach strategic goals and enhance performance

Candidate profile

• Recognized as an external thought leader within the oil and gas/chemicals industry
• Influences the strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues and enhance performance
• Participates in the developments of the business strategy and new business areas
• Conducts external benchmark/best practice reviews and applies them to the organizations to enhance performance
• Leads multi-disciplinary projects or initiatives

Requirements

• Master degree in Engineering or Business Economics, accompanied by preferably an MBA or Postgraduate degree
• At least 15 years of relevant work experience within the oil and gas/chemicals industry
• Excellent strategic insight and financial acumen with global perspective
• Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
• Fluency in (business) English
• Knowledge of the various cultures and international ways of working. Able to adapt plans, strategies and processes in ways suited to local cultures and customs
