Our client is a multinational within the oil and gas industry. 

The position

As Strategic Director you will advise the Managing Director on matters related to the organizations strategic direction, objectives and external best practices. You are recognized as an external thought leader within the oil and gas/chemicals industry.

The Strategic Director Influences the development of the business strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues, enhance performance and take advantage of new business opportunities

Furthermore, you assess/analyze the effectiveness of current business practices and make recommendations for sustainable change, utilizing external benchmarks and best practices, next to leading multi-disciplinary projects or initiatives.

Tasks & responsibilties

• Performs value added analyses and research in support of the organizations strategic objectives and provides input for the development of the organizations strategic direction, goals and objectives
• Identifies and evaluates new business opportunities for the organization and advises the Managing Director on such matters
• Advises and supports the organizations Managing Director to ensure effectiveness of current business practices and makes recommendations for sustainable change
• Advises the Managing Director and the organizations Management on related matters to drive performance and meet customer needs
• Monitors strategy implementation and suggests improvements to reach strategic goals and enhance performance
• Provides advice, guidance and support to the Managing Director and Management Team on matters of strategy and performance

Candidate profile

• Master degree in Engineering or Business Economics, accompanied by preferably an MBA or Postgraduate Diploma
• At least 15 years of relevant work experience within consultancy with a focus on the oil and gas, energy or chemicals industry
• Excellent strategic insight and financial acumen with global perspective
• An extensive network within the oil and gas sector
• Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
• Fluency in (business) English
• Knowledge of the various cultures and international ways of working. Able to adapt plans, strategies and processes in ways suited to local cultures and customs
