With their decades experience in international trade and commodity finance they have extensive experience and expertise in acting as a bridge for their customers in key importing and exporting countries around the world. In addition, their services are facilitated through a centralised, cross-border contact centre where they utilise their branch network to serve their retail customers.

The position

The sustainable finance landscape in the EU is rapidly evolving, driven by regulatory initiatives aimed at integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financial decision-making. In this context, this role serves as the key driver of the Bank's commitment to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, while ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.

In this role you are in charge of setting up ESG processes from scratch.

In addition you will be:

• Implementing the corporate sustainability strategy and sustainability initiatives
• Leading the development and monitoring of the Bank's sustainability policies
• Overseeing sustainability reporting to ensure adherence to relevant rules and regulations, such as the CSRD and EU Taxonomy
• Ensuring the Bank's ESG risk assessment policies, processes and frameworks are in full compliance with applicable rules and regulations and are aligned with the Bank's risk appetite, loan underwriting principles, and business strategy
• Overseeing the Bank's GHG emissions inventory covering Scope 1-2-3 emissions
• Coordinating and providing sustainability/ESG training's for internal stakeholders and raising organisational awareness
• Report directly to the CRO

Candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree or above.
• Minimum of 6- 8 years of working experience in sustainability/ESG field within banking, consultancy, risk management, or related environments.
• Knowledge of key sustainability challenges and regulations, ESG international standards/principles and best practices and their relevance to the banking sector
• Skilled in effectively leading and overseeing a small team
• Ability to work independently, be proactive, prioritise and operate under tight deadlines
