The organisation:

Our client is a global life sciences company. The facility in the US is an impressive 1.5 million square foot which encompasses 29 buildings on 64 acres. The way the site is engineered and operated makes it one of the world’s leading facilities for the manufacture of aseptic liquid fill and lyophilized products and oral dosage forms, along with related services. There are more than 900 employees on this site.

Position description:

Primary responsibility will be planning, developing and executing the company's overall strategies for operations covering multiple functions including manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. He/She will work closely with the President and the senior leadership team to plan, develop and direct all operational aspects of the facility.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and guidance to the operations team regarding manufacturing and supply chain strategy and its implementation and further strategic development.
• Instil a sense of urgency for the operations organization to embrace change.
• Develop and implement cost reduction strategies.
• A high comfort level with the external facing components of the role, eg. interacting with customers, potential customers and regulatory authorities.
• Lead through subordinate management of the different operation functions, including quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, engineering, and supply chain, etc.
• Interact and cooperate with commercial operations to ensure optimal forecasting of production volumes, resulting in high customer service level and optimized optimal production efficiency.

Requirements:

• Degree in pharmacy, engineering, chemistry or biology.
• MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• At least 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• At least 10 years of experience in a senior operational leadership role within a large scale cGMP environment.
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain management and project management.
• In-depth knowledge the US regulatory process is essential.
