Our client is one of the leading companies in the world of specialty chemicals.

The position

The Marketing Director will be responsible for developing the medium to long-term strategic direction for the for the appointed business line (BL).

Tasks & responsibilities

Reporting to the Global Marketing & Sales Director, this position will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Development of the strategic direction for the market segments within the appointed BL.
  • Global responsibility for the marketing strategy development and deployment through several regional sales organisations, for different specialty product lines.
  • Responsible for total contribution margin of several product lines.
  • Responsible for global pricing strategy, price and margin management.
  • Ensure alignment of technology roadmaps and application development resource deployment with the defined market strategy.
  • Initiate, lead and drive an attractive innovation portfolio, in close collaboration with R&D, for the BL's market segments.
  • Generate revenue from new products and new product applications.
  • Develop a clear roadmap to advance the business strategy.
  • Lead the market intelligence collection and communication process for the division and define a competitive position.
  • Manage market communication.
  • Translation of the BL's strategy and plans, into guiding principles that the regional teams will use to determine resource deployment plans.
  • Lead, manage and further develop relationships with key external value chain participants to fully understand their needs and how to develop, position, and commercialise the divisions products.

Candidate profile

  • Master’s degree in a chemistry, engineering or material science. Advanced degree (MBA) preferred.
  • 10+ years of (strategic) marketing experience, preferably in the Chemical industry.
  • Extensive experience in (global) sales management and / or key account management required. 
  • Practiced in managing teams of 5+ people.
  • Expertise in communicating needs from key industries / segments.
  • Expertise in regulatory / legal trends, products/services currently offered.
  • Awareness of sales methodology, sales organisation structures, both direct and indirect channels.
  • Direct customer relationship experience.
  • Conceptual / Strategic thinking.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Residing in the Netherlands or willing to relocate.
  • Fluency in English is required.
