Our Client is looking for a

Corporate Strategist
with excellent analytical and conceptual skills

The position

The group Corporate Development consists of Corporate Strategy & Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions. The Group Head has three people reporting to him: Manager Mergers & Acquisitions and two Corporate Strategists. They support the Executive Board (EB) in establishing a Group view on developing a corporate profile in line with desired strategy. Together with the Head of Corporate Development the Corporate Strategist’s main tasks are:

• Regular scanning of the market for major M&A activity and assisting the EB in defining the Company’s Strategy in this respect;
• Helping the EB in selecting the most attractive acquisition opportunities (mainly fill-in acquisitions) and defining priorities on what to buy;
• Putting in place and managing the framework for organic business growth, from acceleration opportunities in current businesses to starting up new businesses in new markets (greenfields);
• Supporting EB in selecting candidate BUs for divestment (based on performance review);
• Advising the EB and responsible staffs on communication of strategy to financial markets;
• Contributing to the yearly Planning and budgeting cycle (Medium Term Plan).

The profile

Candidates suitable for this position will have:

• a top-tier educational record with clear recognition;
• a background at a top tier strategy consultancy firm at Engagement Manager level with at least 1 year of project management experience; experience in Financial Services – particularly Banking and Life Insurance;
• well-developed problem solving (including issue analysis, analytical and numeracy) skills;
• excellent social and communicative skills;
• business sense;
• fluency in English and preferably Dutch;
• an independent mind, leadership ability, and be able to “connect” to people and bridge cultural differences;
• the ability to work in multi-disciplined teams and a pro-active mentality.
