The company is active in the markets for baggage handling systems at airports, automated logistics processes in distribution centers and sorting solutions in parcel and postal facilities. Vanderlande, with 2000 employees, achieved an order intake of EURO 611 million in financial year 2010 (ending March 31st 2010). The sales is at EURO 550 million with a net income of EURO 26 million. Interaction with the customer, a hands-on attitude of its people, entrepreneurship and a continuous investment in people and technology are the keys to its success.
Vanderlande continuously focuses on increasing its substantial market share by further international expansion and market development. Examples of this examples are our establishments in Shanghai, Delhi, Johannesburg, Dubai, Moscow, etc. The Business Unit (BU) responsible for Baggage Handling Systems is responsible for sale, installation, operations, supply chain and service of these baggage handling systems. The area sales manager will be part of a team of 5 area managers, where each manager covers his own geographical area. The area sales managers report directly to the Managing Director.
In this Business Unit responsible for Baggage Handling Systems there is a vacancy for area sales manager Europe. The area sales manager will initially be responsible for the Nordic and Benelux markets and will also support the booming Eastern European market.
Job Description
The area sales manager is responsible for sales of turn-key projects, developing new clients and projects as well as extensions and system upgrades with a value of 1 to 30 million Euro. He or she leads a team of around 4 sales engineers, who are responsible for often lengthy tendering processes and contract negotiations. Although hierarchically not responsible for project Management, Services and Supply Chain Vanderlande expects a strong team-leader role of this manager.
It is essential is to develop an excellent network of agents and partners, who have the right relations with the authorities and other stakeholders of this complex airport decision making units. The incumbent should be an independent result-oriented entrepreneur with hands on experience and the perseverance and social skills to initiate and close deals. He is also an account manager with the ability to maintain contacts with key customers. He/she spends around 30-40% of the time traveling.
Requirements
- Academic education or HBO+ with entrepreneurial and managerial skills
- At least eight years experience in B2B with a proven track record in the sales of capital goods
- Fluent in English, any other languages a plus
- Is able to asses technique commercially and functionally, but is not a technician pur sang
