The position

The global Sales and Business Development Team within Jumbo consists of a group of five enthusiastic senior representatives working all over the world. Together with the Jumbo co-workers from Market Analysis, Tendering Department, Engineering and Project Management you will, as a team, be responsible to conclude lump sum contracts for complex offshore installation projects.
Every project within Jumbo is unique where ownership and business accountability is key. Specifically, for the acquisition of Jumbo’s renewable business, we are looking for a Business Acquisition Manager Renewables.

Tasks & responsibilities

The Global Business Acquisition Manager is responsible for the strategy and execution of sales in both domestic and international offshore renewable markets.
Some 25-30% of the total business of Jumbo Offshore is renewable business. The role is therefore quite visible within the organisation as well as outdoors. Also, since Jumbo is currently building their new vessel ‘Stella Synergy’ on unique specs makes this role exciting to encounter today. Stella Synergy is one of the biggest installation vessels in the renewables market and an innovative USP for the new incumbent. 

The Business Acquisition Manager is responsible for all sales, tendering, bids and offers made in the renewable business. Jumbo is structured in 4 regional Business Acquisition regions, with their dedicated Business Acquisition Manager. The fifth region is Renewable Offshore, due to the importance and outlook of the business. 
The incumbent will report into the Vice President Offshore, part of Jumbo’s management team. You will be part of the global commercial management team, comprising 6 enthusiasts within Jumbo Offshore.  

The team is experienced with ages ranging from end 30’s to halfway the higher 50’s. The team is a team, willing to help, assist and manage the business together. Due to your technical background combines with commercial capabilities, you know that complex T&I projects are best sold to inquisitive commercial guys. Jumbo supports consultative sales, to come up with a client focussed solution. You will obviously be supported by a tender and sales support team as well as your colleagues. Although you may not lead any staff directly, you will lead functionally towards the important engineering department as well as tendering. 

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • Defining and updating Jumbo’s Business Strategy in specific areas and making sure that this strategy is in line with the Corporate Strategy.
  • Maintaining the general (public) industry intelligence and representing Jumbo at conferences and exhibitions, may include the setup of local stake holder presentations, workshops and trainings.
  • Customer facing activities with Jumbo clients and other stakeholders to develop the (complex) business.
  • Providing the general marketing of Jumbo capabilities by providing input for market data files and performing portfolio SWOT analysis or target selections.
  • Maintaining a good relationship and managing the account of all clients and be in a day to day communication with our Country representatives.
  • Internally communicating the generic market information and trends by monitoring Jumbo’s vis-à-vis competitor analysis, prepare and amend required Partner Plans and providing value-based pricing input.
  • Representing Jumbo in regional initiatives and coordinating joint proposals by providing the proposals (winning) strategy and supporting the proposal team or process.
  • Initiating partner or bid co-operations, agency or representation agreements and ensure that Jumbo is on the proposal or pre-qualification lists for projects Jumbo is interested in.

Candidate profile

We seek for an energetic and self-secure Business Acquisition Manager. We do feel a social and extrovert candidate would fit best. You show entrepreneurial spirit in an organised environment and possess a natural business ‘nose’ combined with the ability to think and work conceptually. 
You are pragmatic in your approach and know how to simplify complex projects in commercial offers. You show a firm drive for result and perseverance, which is key to be successful in this role. 
Being a team player is a must in this Jumbo Offshore environment. Being supportive to others and also an open mind when help is offered to you, never refrain from asking for help. Reporting losses is way harder than reporting success, on the contrary; The greatest lessons learned usually come from losses.

Experience & skills

  • BSc/MSc degree in Engineering or Commercial/ Business Administration.
  • Successful track-record in a commercial role within O&G or Offshore Renewables industry.
  • Working at a contracting company is a plus.
  • A network in the renewables energy sector is beneficial.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages are a plus.
