The organisation

For one of our clients, an innovative forerunner and a global market leader in tools and equipment for professional usage and industrial processes (industrial automation components), we are currently searching for a General Manager (Sales) for the Benelux subsidiary. The organization stands out through their innovative technology, commitment to quality, and excellent customer focus.

The position

The Country Director will be leading the Benelux sales organizations and executing effective sales and marketing strategies in the respective markets. Developing, implementing and expanding new direct sales and distribution channels, processes, capabilities and business models will be an essential part of the role with a strong focus on transitioning towards a more proactive commercial approach.

Candidate profile

  • 8+ years of progressive work experience in international business and sales in solution selling within tooling and equipment industry and/or industrial automation, of which 5+ in a leadership role running as a GM or Sales Director.
  • Proven track record developing a sales and marketing strategy as a sales leader, balancing and optimizing strategic business through various channels and distributor relationships in a comparable industry (sales of technical products in multi-stage distribution systems).
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a Dutch or even Benelux subsidiary company of a multinational European Corporation in a comparable industry.
  • Sound insights in technically value added / solution driven sales. Solid understanding of technical requirements of customers.
  • Digital affinity and e-commerce experience, solid understanding of new digital media and a strong affinity for digital sales channels / tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration or related with a technical background/high affinity to technology and technical products.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch (both verbal and written), French is a plus.

  • Analytical – understands market dynamics in Benelux (craft & construction, industrial, component sales etc) and different customers/audiences.

  • Customer centric – intrinsic interest in understanding customer applications and identifying their needs.
  • Impactful and inspiring leader; convincing, persuasive and able initiate change.
  • Entrepreneurial with a business development mindset, a pioneer and self-starter, who is hungry to identify and pursue business opportunities on the market and grow the business.
  • Driven – striving to achieve outstanding goals and results, ambitious, works independently and makes things happen.
