The organisation

A leading international building materials supplier. For confidential reasons, the name of the client will be shared at a later stage.

The position

The Sales Director is responsible for co-designing and refining the strategic business plan of the business unit. Derived from the business plan the Sales Director prepares, implements and monitors the commercial strategy. Further, the Sales Director is accountable for the installation of the products.

To ensure an effective and efficient commercial organization, it is important that the agreed quantitative and qualitative targets, expansion of the market share and brand awareness of the business unit in the Benelux, France, Nordics, Uk and German markets are realized.

Sales has to work in unison with Technology & Innovation, Production and Marketing to ensure that the organization maintains its leading position.The Sales Director reports into the Managing Director.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a rolling 3 years strategic plan, periodically updated to reflect ever changing markets and competition and to maximize revenues and customer satisfaction whilst establishing a strong and safe market position.
  • Analyze the different stakeholders and be able to prove your added value to the different influencers.
  • Know the different steps in the Project pipeline and know how to act and to fill it.
  • Develop and maintain very good relationships with customers, influencers and different stakeholder and possible new customers.
  • Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of all sales processes.
  • Continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Create and follow up People development and Team Development of your sales team in all countries.
  • Prepare budgets for approval, ensure financial activities and increase sales performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, international legislation, codes of practice, and corporate guidelines in all areas.
  • Utilize KPI’s to effectively manage commercial performance against budget or target including service level, customer satisfaction, sickness and absence, tender win rates etc.

Candidate profile

  • Proven ability to manage workflows with multiple stakeholders in an effective manner;
  • Experience in project specifications;
  • University degree in Economics or Sales/Marketing;
  • At least 10 years of experience in a senior sales position within in Technical Building products;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the flexibility and adaptability to liaise with all levels in the organisation;
  • Positive attitude, open minded and accessible team player;
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, result driven and eye for detail where needed;
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills;
  • Willing to travel frequently within Western Europe;
  • Fluent English; good knowledge of Dutch; other languages are an advantage.
