Warehousing: Today’s warehouses and distribution centres (DCs) face numerous challenges, including increasing labour costs, less available floor space and frequent small orders with short delivery times. Vanderlande understands the complexities associated with operating a successful warehouse and specialises in value-added solutions for e-commerce, fashion and food retail. Parcel: In the parcel industry, meeting service level demands is becoming increasingly tough. Shorter order lead times, later cut-off times, smaller orders and greater product diversity must all be considered. The need for maximum delivery reliability – with zero system faults – is also crucial. Parcel handling companies expect the most cost-effective systems, with the highest available performance. Vanderlande strives for the improvement of its customers’ operational activities and the expansion of their logistical achievements. The position

In this exciting position as Sales Manager, your primary goal is to maintain and further develop Vanderlande’s Warehousing & Parcel (WP) division. You will realize sustainable growth on an international level, within either the Fashion/E-commerce or Parcel segment, by expanding the pool of customers while at the same time maintaining existing relationships. Your vast strategic sales experience and commercial drive will lead you to success. 

Tasks & responsibilities

As a highly experienced sales professional, you are responsible for the sales activities and business development within Vanderlande’s Warehousing & Parcel (WP) division. The WP sales organization is divided in 4 customer centers around the globe: DAG, USA, Spain and Customer Center International located at the head quarters in Veghel. Customer Center International is primarily active in the following three segments; Food Retail, Fashion/E-commerce and Parcel.

Your focus, based on your experience and qualifications, will be placed on either the Fasion/E-commerce or the Parcel segment. Each segment is characterized by its own set of challenges and opportunities. The Parcel segment is mainly focused on the four Global Express Companies. A very competitive market with repeating opportunities. The Fashion/E-commerce segment is focusing on a larger variety of customers: the leading fashion brands, upcoming E-com companies and the big existing diversified companies.

Your eagerness and capability to quickly adapt to different situations and type of clients, combined with your international commerce experience and sales drive, will provide you with the necessary set of tools to succeed in this exciting position. The segments in which Vanderlande operates are ever-evolving and require you to be flexible and possess a high level of entrepreneurship.

To achieve the strategic sales and business development goals, you will partly focus on existing clients while also creating new business. You will lead and manage the complete sales cycle from A to Z. Together with your sales colleagues you will establish the further growth of Vanderlande’s WP Business Unit in either the Parcel or the Fashion/E-commerce segment.

When not on the road, you will spend time at Vanderlande’s head office in Veghel (NL). Your direct reporting line will be to the Global Director Sales WP.

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in a relevant study (business administration, engineering)
  • Multiple years of relevant international working experience in sectors where large deals for capital goods were always part of the game, senior and experienced, business acumen, strategic builder towards the final order
  • Thorough knowledge of e-commerce, retail or post- and parcel services. Familiar with (logistic) solution selling is a plus
  • Strong analytical and excellent communication skills, negotiator by nature
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) and to work in an international field
  • Strong teamplayer with the ability to work independently as well
  • Common sense, resolute approach, good sense of humor
  • Perfect knowledge of the English language, other languages highly desirable
  • Perfect leadership skills to lead a project team with professionals
