Sales Manager (Chartering)

The organisation

Our client is a fast growing heavy lift shipping and offshore company. They have been developing pioneering solutions for the offshore and shipping industry for nearly 45 years and the offshore division has built up a solid and reliable reputation. Their offshore installation vessels have a high lifting capacity are equipped with DP2 and Deepwater Deployment Systems (DDS).

Their clients offshore scope includes the installation of subsea structures and moorings to depths of 3,000m; jackets; topsides; and wind turbine foundations.

The position

• Proactively canvas and solicit special cargo for the heavy lift vessels and 1-3 chartered vessels
• Handle day to day freight inquiries and liaise with operations department for operational/technical input as the need arises
• Negotiate freight rates and contract details, tariffs and conditions, and present firm offers to clients
• Manage the client relationships in a geographical area in close coordination with an international agency network
• Stay in regular phone contact with the foreign offices and commercial agents of the assigned region
• Visit clients, singly or together with commercial agents
• Liaise with operation, engineering, QHSE and communications/marketing departments to safeguard smooth execution of the contracted works
• Stay fully updated on market and competitors’ activities, trends, fixtures and contracted heavy lift cargo in the assigned area

Candidate profile

• Bachelor thinking and working level
• 5+ years experience in a similar job (i.e. shipbroker, chartering manager, owners broker)
• Knowledge of the project shipping industry / tramping
• Knowledge about charter parties and booking notes
• Sound knowledge of generally accepted BIMCO shipping contracts
• Pleasure in traveling (approx. 10-12 short business trips per year)
