Its three core product areas are covering Payments & Cash Management (PCM), Trade (Trade Finance Services and Working Capital Solutions) and Bank Mendes Gans.

Product Management (PM) Trade is a newly created department within Wholesale Banking Transaction Services. The purpose of the PM Trade department is to unlock existing business potential and activate new client/market opportunities. The team’s core focus is on executing a strong commercial strategy aiming at stable and sustainable income flows. Within this department, multiple Product Manager roles are to be filled at different levels.

The position

Product Management Trade Finance Services (PM TFS) is a newly created team within ING Wholesale Banking, focused on unlocking existing business potential and activating new client/market opportunities. The (Senior) Product Manager TFS is responsible for the growth and performance improvement of the TFS product portfolio. This is an excellent role for a trade professional with a strategic mindset to advance the ING TFS value proposition across more than 30 countries globally.

Tasks & responsibilities

The Product Manager (TFS) is part of the Trade department’s Trade Finance Services (TFS) product management team, which is responsible for the commercial performance of the TFS products: Bank Guarantees and Documentary Trade.

The team has P&L ownership and is responsible for optimizing the commercial performance of the product portfolio, including identifying growth opportunities. This involves developing a long-term view on the TFS value proposition and building the product vision and strategy. That means taking market developments (informed by the sales organization and external input) and translating those into concrete requirements for product development, enhancements, and commercialization. The Product Manager (TFS) collaborates across the product value chain with Sales, Delivery, Tech, and Operations to develop and realize the commercial strategy and roadmap, so the role has a strong stakeholder management component. This happens across the global network, as the team covers over 30 countries.

The team of (Senior) Product Managers (TFS) report to the Head of TFS Product Management. Various activities across the different pillars (e.g. competitive analysis and market research, P&L optimization, product proposition, etc.) are divided among the team.

As a Product Manager (TFS) focuses on the strategic priorities of Trade Finance solutions whose vision and strategic direction need to be promoted internally and externally, the role has a strong stakeholder management component. Also, as the team covers over 30 countries, cross-border collaborations and stakeholder engagement will be integral to this position.

Candidate profile*

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years of experience in Wholesale Banking, in areas like strategy, commercial product management, marketing, or customer experience
  • Knowledge of Trade Finance products
  • Experience in commercial product management and/or marketing and/or customer experience
  • Strong business acumen
