Head of Membrane Protein Science

The organization

For a young and innovative drug discovery company, we are looking for a Head of Membrane Protein Science. Since they span-off in 2015, they have developed themselves to a stable company of 30 people. Their unique technology allows the stabilisation of cell membrane receptors, screening for agonists that are pathway-selective and structural drug design.

The position

As Head, you will be leading all the protein science activities of the company, playing a pivotal role in the R&D activities and future success of this ambitious company. You will be leading a group of five biologists inside the drug discovery department, which is expected to grow further in the following years.

Tasks & responsibilities

In this position your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Responsibility over all protein science activities
• Decide on the approach of the research
• Envision new applications of the technology
• Present activities to the Senior Management
• Responsible for five direct reports
• Organise and align research activities inside the group

Candidate profile

For this position, you have the following qualifications:

• PhD in biochemistry or cell biology
• Five or more years of industry experience, working on membrane proteins
• Previous experience in leading a group
• Enthusiastic and proactive person, who likes to take on challenges

The following previous experience will be a plus:

• Cryogenic electron microscopy
• Due-diligence
