Medical & Scientific Liaison (MSL)

The organisation

For an established and global pharmaceutical organisation who are setting up their European headquarters in the Netherlands we are currently looking for an experienced Medical & Scientific Liaison. The MSL, which is a key component within the Medical Team is working in a field-based setting and will focus on the expansion both in the Netherlands and partially Nordic region.

The position

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), your role is crucial in engaging with external customers, particularly healthcare professionals (HCPs) in hospitals. You’ll facilitate two-way communication between the company and its clients, bridging the gap between the HCPs and our organization. As an MSL in this highly innovative and high-quality oriented pharmaceutical organisation you will be a Therapeutic Area expert. Furthermore, your role entails; Pre-launch: Identifying and establishing relationships with (KOLs) in the Netherlands and the Nordic region; conducting introductory meetings with KOLs and HCPs, providing contact information, and gauging their professional interest; engaging with current and potential investigators to share information about our innovative, yet unapproved product to assess their interest in research participation; presenting data to address scientific and medical inquiries without promoting specific products; participating in scientific events, advisory boards, and medical education meetings organized by the Medical Affairs team. Post-launch: Conducting scientific exchanges in a strictly non-promotional manner; facilitating the communication of safety and risk information to stakeholders; conducting medical insight surveys to identify potential product-related issues or aspects; proactively sharing information about unapproved indications with current and potential investigators to gauge their interest in research participation.

Candidate profile

In this role, being that autonomy is relatively high, we are looking for a candidate with about 5+ years experience as Medical & Scientific Liaison. Besides the following is required:

• A B.Sc. in Pharmacy/Biology/Microbiology or Medicine (or comparable);
• Excellent understanding of both the Dutch (C1/C2) and English (B2/C1) language;
• Proven ability to enter a new therapeutic area and rapidly make it familiar;
• Experience in a specialty care setting as MSL;
• Demonstrated achievement of launching a new product, or improving medical engagement of existing product(s);
• Willingness to travel for about 50% of the time (national and international.
