The organisation
HORAMA, a French biotech company based in Paris and Nantes, is looking for a Project Manager Pre-Clinical Development. The company specialises in gene therapy for the treatment of rare, inherited retinal diseases. Backed by a strong syndicate of investors HORAMA aims being one of the key players in the field of ophthalmic gene therapy, while also looking into new disease indications.
HORAMA’s approach is based on vector technology using non-pathogenic, recombinant adeno-associated viruses (rAAV). The rAAV carrying the therapeutic gene of interest penetrates the target retinal cells, inducing the expression of the functional protein. This restores normal cell function, prevents further retinal deterioration, and improves or restores visual function.
The position
Due to a new licensing deal, they are looking to hire an experienced scientific project leader to take the lead in this new development program. In the position you will be a stand-alone, liaising between academic groups, CRO’s as well as internal stakeholders. This means you will have a high level of independency, direct strategic impact on their future success and you will be reporting directly to the CSO.
Tasks & responsibilities
In the light of a brand drug development program, you will take the lead in the preclinical process. You will have the independency and responsibility to bring this candidate drug from proof-of-concept, over all the necessary pre-clinical studies and make sure it can go to the clinics. Your work in bringing this essential program quickly to the clinics, will play a key role in the success of the company. You will set-out the full preclinical development strategy, liaise with internal and external stakeholders for necessary (scientific) support, interpret the data and push the project as far and fast as possible. For succeeding, you will liaise with a multitude of partners, including academic groups, CRO’s, advisors and internal stakeholders.
Candidate profile
In order to be successful in this position, you bring the following skills / experience:
- > 10 years of industry experience in preclinical development
- Multiple years in driving preclinical projects
- Expertise in Gene Therapy research
- Strong knowledge of the Neurosciene / CNS or the opthalmology field
The offer
You can expect to join a dynamic company which is constantly pushing the boundaries of gene therapy. You will be able to take significant responsibility in a promising preclinical program which is central to the success of the company and where you will have direct interaction with all internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore you will have a direct line to the CSO. You can expect a base yearly salary within the range of € 70.000 – 110.000 euros gross, supplemented with secondary benefits.
